PANATONE COLOUR OF THE YEAR
Every year, Pantone declares it's "Colour of the year".
The company hosts secret meetings, twice a year in a European Capital City where after presentations and debate, a colour is chosen for the following year. The results of the meetings are published in "Pantone View" which fashion designers, textile manufacturers, interior designers and the like use to guide their inspirations.
The choice for 2015 is MARSALA
am thrilled you are blogging! You have so many pretty things- those tiles are divine x
ReplyDeleteHonestly forgotten how to do this FF!! Struggled uploading photos etc! Going to give it a whirl again... practicing for that book! xx
Deleteexcellent! There really is a wonderful book inside you Jenny and I hope to hold it in my paws one day soon x
DeleteThank you for this post! I was surprised the lukewarm reception out there though. It seems that most people just want that initial shock and bang which has no longecity. I like color that is muted and that can serve as a base which this color does. I love all the details you picked out too. Personally I like this color as lip liner too :) can't wait for the book Jenny! Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Naomi... I adore this colour... it's muted tones slip so effortlessly between other colours and add depth and warmth. Love the nail varnish and lip colour!! xx
DeleteYour blog is just beautiful! Maybe I'm getting old, but it feels like the Pantone colour changes too quickly - I was just getting used to Radiant Orchid! Your Christmas bush is stunning.
ReplyDeleteHi Lucy... Thanks for lovely comment! Time is flying past more and more quickly for me too! I love Christmas bush so much and I planted one on South Acres when we lived there. Have to remind mysef what Radiant Orchid looks like... xx
DeleteGreat photos Jenny, I think the colour is quite lovely and you can see its versatility in the photos you have chosen. Cannot wait for the book, what a great idea that was
ReplyDeleteHi Kimsays!!... this book is starting to haunt me!... have never tackled anything like this before and am in a bid of a muddle about it! Thanks for the lovely comment! xx
DeleteHappy New Year to you Jenny, Welcome back. You have been missed. Can't wait for a few more pics of your lovely new home. Looking forward to more updates from you. A book? Looking forward to that too! Tracey
ReplyDeleteHi Tracey!... thank you for the lovely welcome back... I am definitely going to make more of an effort to blog more regularly. Yes... and I am working on a book!... but more of that later! Happy New Year to you too xx
DeleteI'm liking it! We bought a vintage kilim runner for our kitchen with it not too long ago. Love your oil painting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary Ann!... It's a fabulous colour .. would love to see a photo of the runner!

Dee
Hi Dee!.... thanks so much for the comment. I do love the warmth and depth of Marsala too! x
DeleteThis is beautiful Jenny. What a warm inviting colour Marsala is. Am meeting with a childhood friend of my daughter-in-law, an interior designer, next week to redo my flat. Have been here only 5 years but have 95% made the decision that this will be my longterm base. It is time to say farewell to remains of earlier decorating schemes and go 2015 with some of my dear step-niece's rugs and fabrics, www.katespain.com. While I am not enamored of central Connecticut, compared to other parts of the state, it is minutes from the grandchildren and that is huge, and I do love my teaching here. I thought you would appreciate this article about landscape architecture preservation--something other parts of the world have take more seriously than the States. http://www.dwell.com/modern-world/article/charles-birnbaum-future-landscape-architecture
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you have never been to Philip Johnson's New Canaan, Connecticut Glass House and its gardens, they are a must for your next US visit. It's an easy train ride from NYC and the mandatory shuttle bus to the house site is right there. Best part is I could meet you there and we could go together. Of course that means you might also want to take in the gardens of a distant relative of mine, Beatrix Farrand, at her aunt Edith Wharton's home a bit further north in Massachusetts, The Mount, www.edithwharton.org, and enjoy a night at the mega-stopped-in-time Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge (www.redlioninn.com) or this relative newcomer to the group of luxury hotels in the area (The Tanglewood Boston Symphony summer music concerts (http://www.bso.org/brands/tanglewood/features/2015-tanglewood-season/2015-season-overview.aspx) have created a luxury hotel cluster there), Wheatleigh:

So here is an armchair travel guide for you as you enjoy your beautiful garden on a lovely summer day :)
Love, Nini @willowbarcelona, nrossi779@gmail.com
Thank you for the marvellous travel/garden information Nini!... I will most certainly contact you in the event of a trip to the USA. I can't wait to hear/see what your daughter-in-law's friend comes up with and I LOVE Kate Spain!! Wishing you a lovely weekend there... still snowed in? xx
DeleteHey keep posting such good and meaningful articles.
ReplyDeleteBlogging is the new poetry. I find it wonderful and amazing in many ways.
ReplyDeleteWhat you're saying is completely true. I know that everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand. I'm sure you'll reach so many people with what you've got to say.
